Giovanmaria is an agronomist currently associated with the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Production at the University “Federico II” of Naples, Italy. He is currently a PhD student in Veterinary Sciences and works for Liverini S.p.A. in the Research and Development sector. His research focuses on the formulation of Precision Feeds that ensure higher production, without affect animal well-being.
My PhD project consists of developing a process/product innovation that aims to implement the formulation of technological feeds in order to improve production performance in dairy cattle, in terms of nutraceutical quality without affecting environmental sustainability. The research project expressed two objectives; 1) An initial phase through in vitro analysis in which it will be possible to understand the best foods and processing techniques (specific for each food) for dairy cattle feeding; 2) The creation of a technological feed at the end, containing precursors of bioactive metabolites. These precursors will subsequently be processed at rumen level and then produced in milk and dairy products, thus increasing their nutraceutical quality.
