Claudia is a biologist affiliated to the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Production in University of Naples Federico II. Her research study focuses on urban biodiversity, particularly on honeybees and wild bees. Adopting a One Health approach, Claudia assesses the well-being and stress response of these organisms in urban, peri-urban, and natural environments of Campania Region. Her work is centered on identifying pathogens and understanding their impact on pollinator and urban ecosystem health.
Funded by the CN5 - NBFC National Biodiversity Future Center under the PNRR, this research study seeks to understand the complex dynamics of biodiversity in urban environments. By conducting multi-level characterizations, we aim to develop effective forest design strategies and implement Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) to enhance biodiversity in urban areas. A central focus of this study is the monitoring and conservation of Apis mellifera and other wild bees by evaluating incidence of pathogens, tissue alterations induced by the most common pathogens, pathogen spread between bees and other pollinators, appearance of predator alien species and effects of pollution and climatic alterations on bee, through histopathological and biomolecular analyses
