Project:
USE OF PLATELET CONCENTRATES AND IN PARTICULAR L-PRF IN VETERINARY ORTHOPAEDIC DISEASE

Recent scientific research, in the surgical field, has paid specific attention to the study of regenerative medicine and in particular platelet concentrates. The potential applications of these blood products in veterinary medicine are numerous; moreover, production and use protocols have recently been tested and standardised not only for pets but also for non-conventional species and farm animals. Platelet concentrates are autologous blood products that have clinical indications for use in human medicine, particularly in maxillo-facial surgery. L-PRF, in particular, has been shown to be effective in various areas of veterinary surgery while, still little explored is the validity of this haemoderivative in dog and cat orthopaedic disease. The aim of PhD is to evaluate the use of L-PRF as a bioscaffold in veterinary orthopaedic disease.
